MLB Bets: Props, Locks, & Drops for Monsday, August 31

We’re closing out August with a player-props-only card, and today’s research gave us several strong spots across strikeouts and hitter production. We broke down recent form, matchup-specific splits, pitch profiles, workload trends, and consensus across the full slate to narrow everything down to our six favorite plays.

Our proven 3-step model: Data-driven research πŸ“Š, Trend analysis πŸ“ˆ, and AI insights πŸ€– is fully deployed for tonight’s action.

Let’s break down our picks using our exclusive system: πŸ‘ Props (bets we like), πŸ”’ Locks (our favorites), and πŸ’§ Drops (leans we don’t love but don’t hate).

πŸ‘Β Payton Tolle Over 5.5 Strikeouts
Tolle gets one of the better strikeout matchups on the slate against a Seattle lineup that has struggled badly with swing-and-miss against left-handed pitching. The Mariners entered with one of baseball’s highest recent strikeout rates against lefties and had struck out 46 times over their previous four games. Tolle has recorded at least six strikeouts in eight of his last nine starts according to one trend in our research and eight of 11 home starts, while his recent 30% whiff rate and 39% chase rate give the underlying numbers plenty of support. Several independent models landed on his strikeout over, and we prefer the safer 5.5 threshold rather than asking for seven.

πŸ‘Β Alex Bregman Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Bregman has been one of the better hitters in baseball against left-handed pitching, and the matchup at Wrigley gives him another favorable spot. He entered with a 66.7% clearance rate on this prop during August while averaging 2.9 combined hits, runs and RBIs per game with a .945 OPS. Kyle Harrison had struggled badly away from home, including a 7.20 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across his previous six road starts, with particularly poor results against right-handed hitters. Add hitter-friendly conditions at Wrigley and Bregman’s strong recent production, and there are multiple paths to two combined contributions.

πŸ”’Β Ian Seymour Over 4.5 Strikeouts
We’re buying down Seymour’s strikeout requirement and making five the target. Seymour had reached at least six strikeouts in eight of 11 appearances when throwing 75 or more pitches and had received at least 87 pitches in six straight starts. His recent 35.8% chase rate and 29.5% whiff rate show that the swing-and-miss production is legitimate, while the Mets had been striking out at an elevated rate against left-handed pitching. Multiple independent sources liked Seymour at 5.5 or even 6.5, so getting the number down to 4.5 makes this one of our favorite props on the board.

πŸ”’Β Junior Caminero Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Few hitters entered Monday in better form than Caminero. He had cleared this exact line in 12 consecutive games according to one of the strongest trends in the entire slate, while other research had him hitting .421 over his previous five games. Robert Stock presents an appealing matchup after allowing a .333 batting average to right-handed hitters, with particularly ugly road numbers. Caminero’s combination of contact, power and a premium lineup position gives him several ways to reach two combined hits, runs and RBIs, and the amount of independent support behind his various hitter props makes this our favorite offensive play of the six.

πŸ’§Β Aaron Nola Over 4.5 Strikeouts
Nola’s recent strikeout form is difficult to ignore. He entered having recorded at least seven strikeouts in four straight starts and had cleared this line in five consecutive outings, while another set of trends showed him reaching four or more in 10 straight. Improved velocity and consistently strong swing-and-miss production give him a solid path to five strikeouts. We like the play, but compared with Seymour and Tolle, there is enough matchup and performance variance to keep Nola in our Drops category rather than elevate him to a Lock.

πŸ’§Β Christian Moore Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
This is a pure trend fade on a hitter who has struggled to generate consistent production. Moore had stayed under 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBIs in 14 of his previous 15 games, an extremely strong 93.3% Under rate during that stretch. With three different ways to contribute, combination props can sometimes turn quickly on one productive plate appearance, which keeps this from being a Lock. Still, his extended lack of offensive production makes the Under worth including as our final play.

Final Thoughts & Trends Analysis

The biggest theme in Monday’s card is strikeout value at manageable numbers. Instead of chasing aggressive ladders, we’re getting Tolle at 5.5 and Seymour at just 4.5 despite multiple sources supporting higher thresholds. On the hitting side, Caminero and Bregman combine excellent recent production with favorable pitcher splits, while Moore gives us a chance to attack one of the strongest Under trends on the slate. Six player props, six carefully selected spots, and no need to force the more volatile home run market into the card.
