MLB Wild Card Bets: Props, Locks, & Drops for Tuesday, September 29

The MLB Playoffs are officially here, and for the first day of postseason baseball we’re adding a little bonus to the daily card. Instead of our usual two Props, two Locks, and two Drops, today we’re giving out three of each. That means nine total picks across the four-game Wild Card slate, with a mix of sides, pitcher props, and hitter production markets.

Our proven 3-step model: Data-driven research πŸ“Š, Trend analysis πŸ“ˆ, and AI insights πŸ€– is fully deployed for tonight’s action.

Let’s break down our picks using our exclusive system: πŸ‘ Props (bets we like), πŸ”’ Locks (our favorites), and πŸ’§ Drops (leans we don’t love but don’t hate).

πŸ‘ Atlanta Braves Moneyline

Atlanta enters Game 1 with one of the clearest starting-pitching advantages on the slate behind Chris Sale. Sale dominated Philadelphia throughout the regular season, going 4-0 against the Phillies, while Atlanta also gets home field for the entire Wild Card series. Philadelphia’s offense struggled down the stretch, and the uncertainty surrounding how deep JesΓΊs Luzardo can work puts additional pressure on the Phillies bullpen. The Braves were one of the strongest consensus sides across the board, making Atlanta our preferred way to attack this matchup.

πŸ‘ Fernando Tatis Jr. Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Tatis finished the regular season on a tear, batting .500 over his final 10 games and clearing this line in 12 of his last 14. He also gets the platoon advantage against left-hander Matthew Boyd and has already taken Boyd deep this season. With Tatis hitting near the top of a San Diego lineup that finished September in excellent offensive form, he has multiple paths to reach two combined hits, runs, and RBIs without needing a home run.

πŸ‘ Chris Sale Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Sale has been one of baseball’s premier swing-and-miss pitchers all season and enters the postseason in excellent form. He has recorded at least seven strikeouts in seven of his last nine starts and cleared this number in three of his last four meetings with Philadelphia. The playoff setting should also allow Atlanta to lean heavily on its ace if he is pitching well. There are more aggressive 7.5 and 8+ strikeout lines available, but seven is the threshold we prefer.

πŸ”’ San Diego Padres Moneyline

San Diego was the strongest moneyline consensus in today’s notes, and the matchup gives us several reasons to agree. The Padres finished September 18-6, went 51-30 at home, and enter the playoffs with one of the better bullpens in baseball. Michael King gets the ball at home against Matthew Boyd, giving San Diego the preferred starting-pitching setup as well. Chicago had success against the Padres during the regular season, but San Diego’s current form, home field, starting pitcher, and bullpen make the Padres our favorite side of the day.

πŸ”’ Cam Schlittler Over 6.5 Strikeouts

No individual player prop received more support across today’s analysis. Schlittler has repeatedly dominated Boston, including 17 strikeouts across just 10.2 innings in his last two starts against the Red Sox. Boston’s strikeout rate also climbed late in the season, while Schlittler has shown the ability to reach eight or more strikeouts consistently at home. Several handicappers were willing to play 7.5 or even 8+, so getting the requirement down to seven makes this our preferred number.

πŸ”’ Michael King Over 14.5 Pitching Outs

King only needs to complete five innings to cash this prop, and he has recorded at least 15 outs in each of his last five qualifying starts. San Diego trusts him at home, and this is exactly the type of postseason spot where a strong starter should be allowed to work through five innings if he is effective. The Padres do have an elite bullpen available, which creates some early-hook risk, but 14.5 remains a very manageable workload threshold for their Game 1 starter.

πŸ’§ Chicago White Sox Moneyline

Chicago is our first postseason underdog swing. The White Sox received more moneyline support than Houston across the full set of notes, with several sources actually betting Chicago at plus money. The appeal centers around a bullpen-heavy game where Chicago’s relief depth and recent offensive production could neutralize Houston’s home-field advantage. There is plenty of uncertainty on both sides, however, and Houston still owns the postseason experience and home setting. That makes Chicago intriguing at plus money, but better suited for our Drop tier.

πŸ’§ Alex Bregman Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Bregman returned from injury in explosive fashion with a four-hit, two-home-run performance and immediately drew multiple recommendations for his combined production market. At only 1.5, one productive plate appearance plus a run or RBI can be enough to cash, and his recent form gives him several different paths to get there. The concern is simply the volatility that comes with a bullpen-game environment and a hitter who has only recently returned to action, so we like the upside without elevating it to Lock status.

πŸ’§ Boston Red Sox Moneyline

Boston is another plus-money postseason shot we’re willing to take without pretending it is a high-confidence side. Payton Tolle has pitched extremely well, including strong strikeout performances against this Yankees lineup, and Boston has a bullpen capable of shortening the game if Tolle gives them a lead. The problem is Cam Schlittler, who has consistently dominated the Red Sox and gives New York a substantial starting-pitching advantage of its own. In what projects as one of the lowest-scoring games of the day, Boston has a realistic path to stealing Game 1, but the matchup is too close for anything above Drop status.

Final Thoughts & Trends Analysis

The first playoff slate is dominated by pitching, and our card reflects it. Sale and Schlittler both carry elite strikeout profiles into familiar matchups, while King only needs five innings to cash his workload prop. San Diego and Atlanta give us the two sides with the strongest overall pitching and consensus advantages, while Tatis provides our favorite hitter-production angle. Our three Drops intentionally embrace more uncertainty, with plus-money upset paths on Chicago and Boston and a higher-variance Bregman production prop. For the postseason bonus card, that gives us nine plays across several different markets without relying too heavily on any one game script.
